Need speaker cable?

The Sonos In-Wall Speakers by Sonos and Sonance are rectangular, passive in-wall speakers sold as a pair, built around a 6.5-inch high-excursion polypropylene woofer and a one-inch tweeter. They suit living rooms, media rooms and home cinema setups where a discreet, built-in sound system is preferred over standalone speakers.

Installation notes
Each speaker requires a cut-out of 273 x 176mm and a mounting depth of 89mm behind the wall. These are passive 8 ohm speakers, optimised for use with a Sonos Amp but suitable for use with any amplifier capable of driving an 8 ohm load; a minimum of 5 watts and maximum of 130 watts power handling is specified. Trueplay tuning requires a Sonos Amp and a supported iOS device. Use speaker wire of 16AWG or larger for connection, and the supplied cutout template to ensure accurate installation.

Questions we get asked
Does it come with a grille?
Yes. Every ceiling and in-wall speaker we sell comes with its grille in the box. Manufacturer photos often show the speaker with the grille removed so you can see the drivers, but the grille is always included.
Will it fit my wall?
You'll need at least 89mm of depth behind the wall surface. Standard plasterboard ceilings with joists are usually fine; check for pipes, cables and insulation before cutting. Not sure? Send us a photo or plan and we'll check it for you.
Do I need an amplifier?
Yes. These are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier or AV receiver to drive them. They're rated at 8Ω with 130W recommended amplifier power. For most rooms a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp is ideal: each drives a pair and streams from your phone. You can also buy a package with the amp included and save 5%.
How many speakers do I need?
As a rule of thumb: a pair for most bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms up to about 20m², two pairs for large open-plan spaces, and a single stereo speaker (T2 / stereo models) for small rooms like en-suites. For home cinema, use 5 or 7 speakers plus a subwoofer. Our free design service will plan positions and sizes from your floorplan.
