Monitor Audio AWC265 6.5" All-Weather Ceiling Speaker
Monitor Audio AWC265 6.5" All-Weather Ceiling Speaker
If the ceiling has a bedroom or other living space above it, or is part of an escape route, building regulations require each speaker to have a fire hood. Hoods also cut sound leaking into the room above.
Allow about 10m per speaker for a typical run back to the amplifier. Webro 16/2 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The Monitor Audio AWC265 is a 6.5" all-weather ceiling speaker built for spaces where moisture, temperature swings and UV exposure would normally rule out a standard in-ceiling design. It's a strong choice for bathrooms, saunas, spas, covered outdoor areas and even marine installations, delivering genuine Monitor Audio sound quality in places other ceiling speakers simply can't go.
Why we like it
- Two-way design pairs a 6.5" C-CAM bass driver with a 1" C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter for clear, detailed audio
- Rated to operate from -34°C to 79°C, with certified resistance to salt spray, UV, vibration and corrosion
- Mineral-filled PC-ABS cabinet and stainless steel grille are built to last in harsh environments
- HF level switch lets installers fine-tune high-frequency output to suit the room
- Tri-Grip dog-leg fixings make for a fast, secure installation
Installation notes
The AWC265 requires a 211mm cut-out and a mounting depth of 88.5mm (93.5mm overall depth with grille fitted), so check ceiling void clearance before installation. An optional square grille (249 x 249mm) is available if you prefer a different look. With 8 ohm impedance and a recommended amplifier power of 20-60W, it pairs well with multi-room amplifiers such as the Sonos Amp or a WiiM Amp for streaming-based installs.
