HOODY 2 Ceiling Speaker Fire & Acoustic Hood for 8"-10" Speakers
The HOODY 2 is a fire and acoustic hood designed to fit over the back of an in-ceiling speaker, for use with 8"-10" round or rectangular models. It's intended for anyone installing in-ceiling speakers below a habitable room or an escape route, where building regulations require the fire rating of the ceiling to be maintained.
Why we like it
- Provides up to 90 minutes of fire integrity
- Complies with BS EN 1363-1:2020, exceeding the requirements of Approved Document B and BS 476 Parts 21 & 23
- Complies with the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations and is tested to EN 6069 (1997)
- Intumescent material expands under heat to seal the ceiling opening, while the acoustic lining helps reduce sound transfer to the room above
- Fits from below the ceiling through the speaker cut-out, with no tools required and no ongoing maintenance
Good to know
The HOODY 2 is sized for 8 to 10 inch (203-254mm) round or rectangular in-ceiling speakers, with cut-outs up to 250mm. You'll need one hood per speaker, fitted individually over each one. It suits both plasterboard and suspended ceilings, and is equally suitable for new-build projects or retrofitting to existing installations, such as the ground-floor ceiling of a two-storey house where fire separation must be preserved.
