These are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier to power them (4Ω, 10–190W recommended). Either of these will drive a pair and stream music from your phone.
Need speaker cable?
Allow about 10m per speaker for a typical run back to the amplifier. Webro 16/2 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The KEF Ci200RS-THX is the square-grille version of KEF's Ci200RR-THX: the same 8in Uni-Q driver, THX Ultra certification and cinema-grade output, in a square format for rooms where square grilles suit the ceiling or wall better. It is built for large home cinema rooms, Dolby Atmos height channels and serious multi-room systems.

Installation notes
The Ci200RS-THX needs a 240 x 240mm square cut-out and a mounting depth of 127mm from the surface. An optional RIF200S rough-in frame is available for new-build installs. With 10-190W recommended power and a 4 ohm load, it pairs best with an AV receiver or a capable multi-channel amplifier.

Questions we get asked
Does it come with a grille?
Yes. Every ceiling and in-wall speaker we sell comes with its grille in the box. Manufacturer photos often show the speaker with the grille removed so you can see the drivers, but the grille is always included.
Will it fit my ceiling?
You'll need a 240mm cut-out and at least 127mm of depth behind the ceiling surface. The visible trim is 273mm across. Standard plasterboard ceilings with joists are usually fine; check for pipes, cables and insulation before cutting. Not sure? Send us a photo or plan and we'll check it for you.
Do I need an amplifier?
Yes. These are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier or AV receiver to drive them. They're rated at 4Ω with 10–190W recommended amplifier power. For most rooms a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp is ideal: each drives a pair and streams from your phone. You can also buy a package with the amp included and save 5%.
Do I need a fire hood?
If there's a habitable room above (for example a bedroom), or the ceiling forms part of a fire escape route, Building Regulations require each speaker to be fire-rated, usually with a fire hood fitted over the back. Hoods also cut sound travelling to the room above. See all fire hoods.
How many speakers do I need?
As a rule of thumb: a pair for most bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms up to about 20m², two pairs for large open-plan spaces, and a single stereo speaker (T2 / stereo models) for small rooms like en-suites. For home cinema, use 5 or 7 speakers plus a subwoofer. Our free design service will plan positions and sizes from your floorplan.
Is it sold singly or as a pair?
Priced per speaker. Add the quantity you need; most rooms use a pair.
