KEF Ci160TS 4.5" Ultra Slim Square In-Ceiling Speaker
These are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier to power them (8Ω, 10–100W recommended). Either of these will drive a pair and stream music from your phone.
Allow about 10m per speaker for a typical run back to the amplifier. Webro 16/2 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The KEF Ci160TS is an ultra-slim square ceiling speaker designed for anyone who wants great sound without a bulky installation. With a mounting depth of under 36mm, it's an excellent choice for rooms with shallow ceiling voids, including bathrooms, kitchens, home cinemas and living spaces where a discreet finish matters.
Why we like it
- Slimline under 36mm design fits where many conventional ceiling speakers simply won't
- KEF's Uni-Q driver array spreads sound evenly across the room, even off-axis
- Magnetic, paintable grille blends into any ceiling colour or decor
- Moisture-resistant build makes it a sound choice for humid rooms
- Square format suits contemporary interiors wanting a different look from round speakers
Installation notes
The Ci160TS requires a square cut-out of 194 x 194mm and a mounting depth of under 36mm, making it well suited to retrofit installs with limited ceiling cavity. The overall speaker dimensions are 222.8 x 222.8mm, so ensure adequate clearance around the cut-out for the bezel/grille. As a passive 8 Ohm speaker it needs an amplifier - a compact streaming amp such as a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp works well for background music zones, while multi-room or multi-channel amps suit larger installations.
