KEF Ci160QR 6.5" Uni-Q In-Ceiling Speaker
If the ceiling has a bedroom or other living space above it, or is part of an escape route, building regulations require each speaker to have a fire hood. Hoods also cut sound leaking into the room above.
Allow about 10m per speaker for a typical run back to the amplifier. Webro 16/2 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The KEF Ci160QR is a premium in-ceiling speaker ideal for living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and multi-room installations where discreet, high-fidelity sound matters. Built around KEF's renowned Uni-Q driver array, it delivers detailed, room-filling audio from a remarkably slim ceiling footprint, making it a popular choice for both music lovers and home cinema enthusiasts.
Why we like it
- Uni-Q driver places the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the woofer for even, natural sound dispersion
- Tangerine Waveguide refines treble detail and widens the sweet spot
- Ultra Thin Bezel design keeps the visible trim to a minimum for a near-invisible finish
- Paintable magnetic grille allows seamless colour matching to any ceiling
- IP64 rated, so it's equally at home in bathrooms, kitchens or covered outdoor areas
Installation notes
The Ci160QR requires a 196mm cut-out and a mounting depth of 91mm, so check ceiling cavity clearance before installing. As a passive speaker, it needs an amplifier such as a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp to drive it; its 8 ohm impedance and 10-125W recommended power range make it compatible with most multi-room and AV amplifiers. Gold-plated spring-loaded binding posts make for quick, reliable cable connections during install.
