These are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier to power them (8Ω, 10–125W recommended). Either of these will drive a pair and stream music from your phone.
Need speaker cable?
Allow about 10m per speaker for a typical run back to the amplifier. Webro 16/2 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The KEF Ci160QL is a 6.5" rectangular in-wall and in-ceiling speaker built around KEF's acclaimed Uni-Q driver array, making it a strong choice for home cinema surrounds, multi-room audio and general background listening throughout the home. Its ultra-thin bezel and flat magnetic grille allow it to disappear into a wall or ceiling, keeping the focus on the room rather than the hardware.

Installation notes
Overall dimensions are 303 x 223 x 97.5mm, with a rectangular cut-out of 274 x 194mm and a mounting depth of 91mm, so check joist and cavity depth before cutting. As a passive design it needs an external amplifier rated between 10-125W into 8 ohms; a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp is a sensible match for multi-room or home cinema use, and pairing with a subwoofer is recommended for fuller bass in larger rooms. Optional RIF160L rough-in frame or RNC160L rear enclosure accessories can improve acoustic performance and ease of fitting.

Questions we get asked
Does it come with a grille?
Yes. Every ceiling and in-wall speaker we sell comes with its grille in the box. Manufacturer photos often show the speaker with the grille removed so you can see the drivers, but the grille is always included.
Will it fit my wall?
You'll need at least 91mm of depth behind the wall surface. Standard plasterboard ceilings with joists are usually fine; check for pipes, cables and insulation before cutting. Not sure? Send us a photo or plan and we'll check it for you.
Do I need an amplifier?
Yes. These are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier or AV receiver to drive them. They're rated at 8Ω with 10–125W recommended amplifier power. For most rooms a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp is ideal: each drives a pair and streams from your phone. You can also buy a package with the amp included and save 5%.
How many speakers do I need?
As a rule of thumb: a pair for most bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms up to about 20m², two pairs for large open-plan spaces, and a single stereo speaker (T2 / stereo models) for small rooms like en-suites. For home cinema, use 5 or 7 speakers plus a subwoofer. Our free design service will plan positions and sizes from your floorplan.
Is it sold singly or as a pair?
