If the ceiling has a bedroom or other living space above it, or is part of an escape route, building regulations require each speaker to have a fire hood. Hoods also cut sound leaking into the room above.
Allow about 10m per speaker for a typical run back to the amplifier. Webro 16/2 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The Monitor Audio Super Slim CSS230 is designed for spaces where ceiling depth is at a premium, making it a great option for refurbishments, shallow stud ceilings, or installations above insulation and services. Suited to living rooms, kitchens, offices and retail spaces, it brings genuine hi-fi performance to rooms that couldn't normally accommodate a ceiling speaker.

Installation notes
With a cut-out diameter of 211mm and a mounting depth of just 50mm, the CSS230 fits where many standard ceiling speakers cannot. It pairs well with multi-room amplifiers such as the Sonos Amp or a WiiM Amp for background music zones, and a 100Hz crossover (12dB/Octave minimum) is recommended for optimal integration with a subwoofer in open-back installations. The optional CB6 pre-construction bracket simplifies first-fix planning.
