These are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier to power them (6Ω, 150W recommended). Either of these will drive a pair and stream music from your phone.
Need speaker cable?
Outdoor runs need burial-grade cable. Allow about 10m per speaker for the pair. QED QX16/2 PE has a water and UV resistant jacket and can be buried without conduit.
The Monitor Audio Climate CL2 S is a compact two-way, wall-mountable outdoor speaker, supplied as a pair in white. Its small footprint and IP66 rating make it well suited to patios, balconies and other covered or exposed exterior spaces, as well as versatile indoor installations such as bathrooms or kitchens.

Installation notes
The Climate CL2 S is a wall-mounted speaker rather than a flush ceiling or in-wall unit, fitted using the supplied die-cast 'Quik-Link' bracket system; no cut-out or in-wall mounting depth applies. External dimensions with all accessories fitted are 247 x 140 x 217mm (H x W x D), so allow adequate wall space and clearance for the bracket. With a nominal impedance of 6Ω and a recommended amplifier power of up to 150W RMS, pair with an amplifier capable of driving this load comfortably within that power range. Speakers are sold and should be installed in pairs.

Do I need an amplifier?
Yes. These are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier or AV receiver to drive them. They're rated at 6Ω with 150W recommended amplifier power. For most rooms a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp is ideal: each drives a pair and streams from your phone. You can also buy a package with the amp included and save 5%.
How many speakers do I need?
As a rule of thumb: a pair for most bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms up to about 20m², two pairs for large open-plan spaces, and a single stereo speaker (T2 / stereo models) for small rooms like en-suites.
