Monitor Audio AWC280-T2 8" All-Weather Stereo Ceiling Speaker
Monitor Audio AWC280-T2 8" All-Weather Stereo Ceiling Speaker
If the ceiling has a bedroom or other living space above it, or is part of an escape route, building regulations require each speaker to have a fire hood. Hoods also cut sound leaking into the room above.
Stereo from a single speaker needs a 4-core cable (left and right channels on one run). Allow about 10m back to the amplifier. Webro 16/4 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The Monitor Audio AWC280-T2 is an 8" all-weather stereo ceiling speaker that delivers full stereo sound from a single mounting point, making it an excellent solution for bathrooms, saunas, spas, porches, and other spaces where fitting two speakers isn't practical. Built for durability, it's equally at home in covered outdoor areas or marine environments as it is in a busy family bathroom.
Why we like it
- Twin angled 1" C-CAM Gold Dome tweeters create genuine stereo imaging from one unit
- Robust all-weather construction resists salt spray, UV, moisture, vibration and corrosion
- Substantial 8" C-CAM bass driver provides deep, controlled low-end response
- Onboard HF level switch lets installers fine-tune treble to suit the room
- Tri-Grip dog-leg fixings and gold-plated terminals make for a quick, secure install
Installation notes
The AWC280-T2 requires a 247mm cut-out and has a mounting depth of 97.55mm behind the ceiling line (102.5mm overall depth including the grille), so check loft or ceiling void clearance before fitting. As a stereo single-point speaker it's ideal for pairing with a compact streaming amplifier such as a WiiM Amp or Sonos Amp, giving you full stereo sound from one ceiling cut-out without running separate left and right feeds.
