KEF Ci160CRDS 6.5" Stereo In-Ceiling Speaker
If the ceiling has a bedroom or other living space above it, or is part of an escape route, building regulations require each speaker to have a fire hood. Hoods also cut sound leaking into the room above.
Stereo from a single speaker needs a 4-core cable (left and right channels on one run). Allow about 10m back to the amplifier. Webro 16/4 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The KEF Ci160CRDS is a single-point stereo ceiling speaker, perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, en-suites, hallways and smaller rooms where running two speakers isn't practical. By combining two tweeters with a dual voice coil bass driver in one enclosure, it delivers genuine stereo separation from a single cutout, making it a favourite for compact spaces that still demand quality sound.
Why we like it
- Full stereo image from just one speaker, saving on cable runs and ceiling cutouts
- Moisture-resistant build suited to humid rooms such as bathrooms
- KEF's Ultra Thin Bezel gives a near-invisible, paintable finish
- Tangerine Waveguide and asymmetrical tweeter layout improve dispersion and clarity off-axis
- Simple screw-down clamp fitting for a fast, secure installation
Installation notes
Cut-out diameter is 196mm with a mounting depth of 86mm (overall product depth 93mm), so check joist spacing and ceiling void clearance before fitting. As a single-point stereo speaker it only needs one pair of cable runs from the amplifier, making it ideal for pairing with a compact amplifier such as a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp for background music zones.
