KEF Ci100QS 4" Square In-Ceiling Speaker
If the ceiling has a bedroom or other living space above it, or is part of an escape route, building regulations require each speaker to have a fire hood. Hoods also cut sound leaking into the room above.
Allow about 10m per speaker for a typical run back to the amplifier. Webro 16/2 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The KEF Ci100QS is a compact 4" square in-ceiling speaker designed for anyone wanting discreet, high-quality background sound without a bulky footprint. It's equally at home delivering music in a kitchen, bathroom or hallway as it is providing unobtrusive audio in a shop, office or restaurant.
Why we like it
- KEF's Uni-Q driver array places the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the woofer for even, wide-dispersion sound
- IP64 weather and moisture resistance makes it suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and sheltered outdoor spots
- Ultra-thin bezel design gives a near-invisible finish once installed and painted
- Magnetic, fully paintable grille for fast fitting and seamless decor matching
- Compact square format ideal where ceiling void depth or space is limited
Installation notes
The Ci100QS requires a square cut-out of 112mm x 112mm and a mounting depth of 72mm, so check joist spacing and ceiling void depth before fitting. The overall speaker dimensions are 127mm x 127mm. As a passive 8 ohm speaker it needs an external amplifier; it pairs well with compact multi-room amps such as the Sonos Amp or a WiiM Amp for background music zones, and can also be run from a standard AV receiver for distributed audio.
