KEF Ci100.2QR 3" Round In-Ceiling Speaker
If the ceiling has a bedroom or other living space above it, or is part of an escape route, building regulations require each speaker to have a fire hood. Hoods also cut sound leaking into the room above.
Allow about 10m per speaker for a typical run back to the amplifier. Webro 16/2 LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) is the right cable for runs in ceilings and walls.
The KEF Ci100.2QR is a compact 3" in-ceiling speaker built for spaces where discretion matters as much as sound quality. Perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and small living areas, it tucks neatly alongside flush ceiling lighting while still delivering KEF's signature clarity.
Why we like it
- Uni-Q driver array places the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the woofer for even, wide-area coverage
- Tangerine waveguide sharpens high-frequency detail and protects the tweeter
- IP64 rated and UV-protected, so it copes well with moisture-prone rooms
- Magnetic, paintable grille and Ultra-Thin Bezel keep the speaker visually unobtrusive
- Compact footprint suits retrofit projects as well as new builds
Installation notes
The speaker has a cut-out diameter of 118mm and an overall diameter of 136mm, with a mounting depth from the surface of 52mm. As a passive speaker it needs an external amplifier; a compact multi-room amp such as a Sonos Amp or WiiM Amp pairs well for background music zones, with 10-50W recommended per speaker.
