Sonos Port Network Streamer
The Sonos Port is a WiFi network streamer with a built-in DAC, designed to bring Sonos multiroom streaming to an existing stereo or amplified receiver. It suits homeowners who already have a separate amplifier and want to add streaming services, internet radio and multiroom audio without replacing their current equipment, including systems feeding passive ceiling or in-wall speakers.
Why we like it
- Adds Sonos app control, Apple AirPlay 2 and WiFi streaming to any existing amplifier or receiver
- Built-in DAC with digital coax and analogue line-in/line-out connections for flexible system integration
- Automatic 12V trigger switches a connected amplifier on automatically, so there's no need for a separate remote
- Allows vinyl, CDs and other stored audio connected via line-in to be shared with Sonos speakers in other rooms
- Compact, matte black finish suited to placement on a shelf or in an AV rack
Installation notes
The Sonos Port is a network streamer, not an amplifier, so it must be paired with a separate stereo amplifier or AV receiver to drive passive ceiling or in-wall speakers. Connect via the digital coax output to a compatible digital input, or use the analogue line-out/line-in RCA connections depending on the amplifier. Power is supplied via an external 100-240V power adapter, and the unit connects to a network via dual-band WiFi (2.4 or 5 GHz) or wired Ethernet (dual 10/100 ports). The 12V trigger output can be used to automatically power on a connected amplifier.
