Delivering 100W per channel into 8Ω or 200W into 4Ω, it is equally suited to driving a pair of bookshelf or floor-standing speakers as it is to powering a multi-zone in-ceiling or in-wall installation. Its touchscreen control, extensive streaming support and room correction make it a strong centrepiece for a modern multi-room or home cinema system.

Why we like it

100W per channel at 8Ω (200W at 4Ω) from dual TI TPA3255 Class-D amplifier chips, suitable for driving up to four passive speakers

ESS ES9039Q2M SABRE DAC and six TI OPA1612 op-amps for low-distortion, high-resolution playback up to 24-bit/192kHz

Post Filter Feedback (PFFB) technology for stable, load-independent performance across different speaker types, including in-wall speakers

Built-in RoomFit room correction automatically tunes output to the room and connected speakers

HDMI ARC input with Dolby Digital decoding and a dedicated subwoofer output for integrated TV and home cinema sound

Installation notes

The Amp Ultra measures 200 x 211 x 76.2mm and is designed for shelf or cabinet placement rather than in-wall mounting. Speaker connections are via gold-plated binding posts supporting banana plugs or bare wire, with an output impedance range of 2–8Ω, making it compatible with most passive ceiling, in-wall and standmount speakers. A dedicated mono RCA subwoofer output is provided for adding low-frequency extension. Network connectivity is via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with Bluetooth 5.3 and HDMI ARC also available as sources; note that the unit does not support AirPlay.

Specifications

Power Output

100W per channel @ 8Ω; 200W per channel @ 4Ω

Amplifier Technology

Class-D with PFFB (Post-Filter Feedback)

DAC Chip

ESS ES9039Q2M

Frequency Response

20Hz – 20kHz ± 0.5dB

Signal to Noise Ratio

≥120 dB (121 dB per WiiM official spec)

THD

0.08%

THD+N

≤0.005% (-106 dB)

Damping Factor

94

Output Impedance

2–8 Ω

Analogue Inputs

1x RCA stereo line

Digital Inputs

1x Optical (TOSLINK), HDMI ARC, USB

Wireless Connectivity

Wi-Fi 6/6E, Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio

Wired Network

Ethernet (100Mbps, RJ45)

Speaker Outputs

Gold-plated binding posts x2 (banana plug or bare wire)

Subwoofer Output

1x RCA, mono

Screen

3.5in glass-covered capacitive touchscreen

Enclosure Material

Aluminium (anodised unibody)

Thermal Management

Copper heat pipe, aluminium heatsink, PID thermal control, passive cooling

Streaming Protocols

Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Alexa Cast, DLNA, Roon Ready

Dimensions (W x H x D)

200 x 211 x 76.2mm

Weight

2.45kg
